This could be a small AGPU, but very low quality !!

Where was the Bash?

The venue for this year AGPU was an ecological retreat called "Paraiso Caño Hondo". The hotel is located about 160 km from Santo Domingo, on the fringes of Los Haitises National Park. The location offers a breathtaking view over the bays of San Lorenzo and Samaná. MMC members that have been to the place making all necessary arrangements for the AGPU, concur that the photos on the website do not do this place justice. They say that it is incredible !!

The hotel's main attraction is its waterfalls. Half of the hotel sits amidst them and the channels that bring the water from a nearby creek located inside the property. So don´t forget to bring your swimming suits !!

Apart from running the hash, drinking yourself silly and singing dirty songs, there were lots of nature activities to do: whale watching (January thru March), kayaking, bird watching, hiking, etc. For example, if the two runs we have organized are not enough for you, then you can take an eco-hike through the rain forest of Los Haitises. This is an interesting route, where sorrounded by an spectacular vegetation you can appreciate the flora and fauna of the Park, the fabulous Detachment, and the Ensenada or old railway line of the banana train. You can also take a boat ride into the bay and visite two caves with pictographs and petroglyps. Ask the front desk for other excursions.
